Amanda was born and raised in Maryland before relocating to Florida with her husband, who is serving on active duty, and their three children. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Mount St. Mary’s University. Amanda is a counseling intern with Liberty University working on a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling practicing under the supervision of a qualified licensed mental health professional.
Before becoming a counselor, Amanda supported individuals in the field of special education as a certified teacher first in Maryland and then in Florida for Duval County Public Schools. In Florida, she went on to further obtain the state endorsements in English Spanish Other Languages (ESOL) and Autism. While working for DCPS she served as an English Language Arts teacher, Varying Exceptionalities Teacher, and Communication Social Skills Site Coach. Amanda has extensive experience developing and monitoring behavioral and crisis intervention procedures, creating needs based SMART goals that are achievable while frequently progress monitoring, and collaborating with a team to provide the best support for every person she worked with. Amanda was a part of the crisis intervention team and is a trained practitioner in the following crisis interventions: Professional Crisis Management (PCM) and Ukeru.
Amanda believes in meeting every client where they are while building a strong therapeutic relationship through a person-centered approach. She is excited to translate the knowledge and experience she gained working in special education to mental health. She provides services to clients of all ages and needs.
