Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Jason Kugel is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a strong foundation in service, beginning his professional journey in the United States Navy shortly after graduating high school. Born in Germany and raised in Newark, Delaware, he enlisted in 1991 and served 20 years — first as an aircraft electrician and later as a Master-at-Arms — retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. His military experience instilled in him a deep commitment to mentorship, resilience, and supporting individuals and families through high-stress situations.
Following his retirement, Jason earned his Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2018 and has since provided care across inpatient, outpatient, and telehealth settings. He has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults, veterans, and couples in both crisis intervention and ongoing therapy. His background includes in-home therapy, school-based counseling, private practice, and three years in a pediatric hospital inpatient unit.
Jason draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and military family systems perspectives, combining structured, evidence-based strategies with a deep understanding of military culture, family dynamics, and the unique emotional challenges faced by service members and their loved ones.
Known for his calm, grounded, and solution-focused approach, Jason helps individuals build emotional resilience, improve communication, and navigate life transitions with clarity and confidence.
