Registered Clinical Social Work Intern
Nicki Peterson is a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern (RCSWI) who provides counseling to children, adolescents, adults, and families. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Nevada–Las Vegas and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Montana.
Nicki brings over a decade of experience supporting individuals across educational, child welfare, and clinical settings. Before becoming a counselor, she worked as an elementary school teacher and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) practitioner, educating hundreds of caregivers, educators, and professionals in trauma-informed caregiving methods. She has particular expertise in supporting children in foster care with complex trauma and behavioral challenges and now works with clients of all ages navigating concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and more.
Having lived in nine different states, Nicki brings a broad, culturally responsive perspective to her work. She is proud to now call Nassau County home and is honored to serve this community with warmth, humility, and care.
Nicki uses a flexible, trauma-informed approach grounded in evidence-based practices, including:
